We believe that lifelong learning keeps the mind active, and the spirit young. The Education Center at Temple Beth Israel provides enrichment programming and lifelong learning for all adults regardless of residence or educational background. A desire to continue learning is the only prerequisite.

WHAT: Temple Beth Israel is a not-for-profit organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code: EIN 59-1970401. It offers non-credit courses for adults in the fine and applied arts, humanities, liberal arts, and natural and social sciences. Also available are recreational classes, field trips to local organizations, daytrips to art museums, a lecture series, and performing arts programs.

WHERE: The Education Center at Temple Beth Israel is located at 567 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key, Florida 34228. It’s just past the LBK Post Office and one street north of Publix.

WHEN: The Education Center is open from October to late April. The programs are divided into three terms; Fall, Winter, and Spring.

  • No Classes Thanksgiving Week: November 22-27, 2021

  • Winter Term Begins: Monday, January 3, 2022

  • Spring Term Begins: Tuesday, March 1, 2022


  • IN PERSON: At Temple Beth Israel weekdays, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. We are closed on Fridays in the Fall. (Beginning October 18, 2021)

  • If registering by phone, e-mail or online, a check must follow within one week to finalize registration.

  • Note: By late October we will be able to take credit cards!!


  • WITHDRAWL/CREDITS: As a membership benefit, members are eligible for credit if they withdraw from a program. Members must notify the office at least one week before the program begins to be eligible for a credit. Credits are issued at the sole discretion of the program director and must be used by the end of the following season.

  • GUESTS: Guests must be registered at the office before entering a class. Guest fees are pro-rated at non-member prices based on the course tuition.

Many of our programs, especially in January and February, sell out months in advance, so please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Applications will be accepted in the order in which they are received. Registration is not final until fees have been paid.
